Our call that the deal (that sees Leeds City Council underwrite a deal on the redevelopment of Headingley worth 35 million pounds) was subject to proper scrutiny by Councillors has been rejected by the ruling Labour Group.
LCC have committed to take the head lease on a 35 million repayment scheme over 40 years as other parties, such as Yorkshire Cricket who are already 24 million in debt, were unable to do so.
We believe this risky strategy should have had independent scrutiny by Councillors of all parties but yesterday this was rejected.
Let’s hope nothing goes wrong!!!!
